THE FONTINETTES BOATLIFT

The Fontinettes Boatlift was built in 1887 and replaced a flight of 5 locks. It has been working from 1887 to 1967 like a pair of hydraulic scales. It is situated on the Neuffossé canal linking the river la Lys to the river Aa (Belgium to Dunkerque). It's now classified "Monument Historique "
